Harmonic scalpels serve an important function in surgical operations, harnessing the power of ultrasonic technology to precisely cut and coagulate, resulting in minimal lateral thermal tissue damage. Here at The Surgical Equipment People, we understand that harmonic scalpels function in tight spaces near vital structures and that it is critical for your scalpels to be in top condition. When working properly, you’ll experience less tissue charring, less desiccation, fewer instrument changes and a vast improvement in the surgical field visibility.
The Surgical Equipment People begin the diagnosis of the harmonic scalpel by completely disassembling the instrument. All connectors, cables, piezoelectric ceramics, electrodes and seals are discarded, to be replaced with fresh components. Next, we ultrasonically clean and inspect the shell housing and remaining transducer components. The transducer is then reassembled, tested, mated with a new connector or cable, and tested again. Finally, the completed scalpel is autoclaved and tested once more before shipment. All instruments are returned with their original finish (i.e. buffed, satin finish, or glass bead finish).
